Independent Heat Pump Specialist
I help homeowners get better performance from their heat pump and low-temperature heating system through careful design, diagnostics, servicing and optimisation.
My route into the heating industry was not completely traditional. After attending university to study forensic computing, I realised I wanted a more practical, hands-on career and decided to retrain as a plumbing and heating engineer.
After completing my training, I was fortunate to work for a well established, high end renewables company with close links to Heat Geek. During that time, I gained experience on a wide range of domestic and specialist heating projects, with a particular focus on heat pumps, low-temperature heating systems and efficient system design.
Over time I progressed into a senior engineer role, supporting installations, helping train others and providing technical advice on heating and heat pump systems. That experience shaped the way I work now: practical, methodical and focused on making systems perform properly in the real world.
I have seven year’s experience in plumbing and heating with the last five focused primarily in renewable heating systems. My training and qualifications include:
Fully Qualified Plumber
Gas Safe & OFTEC
BPEC Low Temperature Hot Water Heating Systems Design
BPEC Installation & Commissioning of Air Source Heat Pumps both conform to MIS3005-I standard.
Heat Geek Awakening and Mastery training
My work ranges from straightforward domestic retrofits through to larger plant rooms with mixed and unmixed temperature circuits, buffers, mains booster sets and more. I’ve worked on projects including All England Lawn Tennis Club facilities, private members’ clubs and high-end residential properties across Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex.
I’ve worked with a range of heat pump manufactures, particularly Vaillant, Viessmann and Grant. If your system is another brand, send the make and model and I’ll let you know whether I can help.
How I work
I take a practical, methodical approach to heat pump and heating system work. Rather than guessing or replacing parts unnecessarily, I look at how the whole system is operating, the heat pump, controls, emitters, flow temperatures, pipework and homeowner and installer settings.
Clear diagnosis before recommendations
Practical explanations without unnecessary jargon
Focus on comfort, reliability, and efficiency
Attention to low-temperature heating design
Simple systems wherever possible
Support for homeowners who want to understand their system better
My approach is simple: design it properly, install it carefully, commission it thoroughly and avoid unnecessary complexity. The best heating systems are often the simplest, set up to run quietly, efficiently and reliably for the long term.
