Heat pump aftercare services

Independent support for existing heat pump systems across Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex.

Guide prices shown clearly, with no hidden call out fees.

Useful if:

  • Your heat pump is due its annual service

  • You have moved into a property with an existing heat pump

  • You want the system checked before winter

  • You are unsure whether it has been maintained properly

  • You want a general performance review

From £210 - includes full strip-down service, expansion vessel checks, filter/strainer inspected and cleaned, general system checks, service certificate upon completion. Typical service time 1.5 - 2 hr.

Annual heat pump servicing

A thorough annual service helps you heat pump run safely, reliably and effectively -

and gives you a clear picture of whether the system was set up correctly in the first place.

Many heat pump owners discover during a first service that flow temperatures are set too high, weather compensation is incorrectly set, or simple changes could significantly reduce their running costs.

Heat Pump Optimisation

A heat pump can be working — technically — while still performing badly. High flow temperatures, incorrect scheduling, poor balancing or unnecessary complexity can all increase running costs and reduce comfort without triggering any fault codes.

Optimisation focuses on making the system run as it should: steadily, efficiently and reliably, with running costs that reflect the technology.

Useful if:

  • Electricity bill seems too high

  • The house feels unevenly heated

  • The system runs constantly but comfort is poor

  • Weather compensation is disabled or badly configured

  • Flow temperatures are set too high

  • You are unsure whether the system was set up and commissioned properly

  • You want to understand how to run the system efficiently

Priced as controls & optimisation visit (from £220) or half-day review (from £350) depending on scope. I’ll advise which is appropriate after hearing about your system.

  • Your heat pump is showing fault codes

  • Heating or hot water is unreliable

  • Rooms are not reaching temperature

  • The system keep stopping or locking out

  • The system is noisy or cycling frequently

  • Previous visits have not resolved the problem

  • You want an independent second opinion

From £180 - includes 90 minutes on site. £80 / hr thereafter.

Fault finding and diagnostics

Heat pump faults are not always caused by the heat pump itself. The problem can come from controls, sensors, flow restrictions, pumps, valves, pipework, system design or original commissioning.

Rather than guessing or swapping parts unnecessarily, I take a methodical approach to finding the actual cause, and explaining it clearly.

Useful if:

Heating Systems & Controls

Controls are one of the most common reasons heat pump systems underpeform. A properly set-up system should run steadily at the lowest practical flow temperature, using weather compensation and sensible scheduling - not constant manual adjustment.

If you’re regularly changing settings, or the house overheats and underheats in cycles, the controls almost certainly need attention.

Useful if:

  • You do not understand your controls

  • The house overheats or underheats

  • You keep changing settings without improvement

  • Weather compensation is not set up properly

  • You want to reduce unnecessary cycling

From £220 - includes 2 hours on site. £80 / hr thereafter.

Guide Pricing

Every system is different, so the prices below are intended as a guide. All visits are based on time on site — any parts, refrigerant, inhibitor or additional materials required are priced separately and always agreed with you before any work is carried out.

Annual heat pump service — from £210

A thorough annual service to keep your heat pump running safely and reliably. Includes a full strip-down of the external unit, filter and strainer checks, pressure checks, electrical checks, flow rate check and a general review of system condition.

If I spot signs of poor setup, high flow temperatures or controls issues during the visit, I'll flag them clearly. Resolving those issues falls under a separate optimisation or controls visit — the service is focused on the condition and safety of the heat pump itself.

Diagnostic / fault finding visit — from £180

Includes 90 minutes on site. £80/hr thereafter.

For faults, lockouts, poor heating, hot water issues or unexplained performance problems. I take a methodical approach to finding the actual cause rather than guessing or replacing parts unnecessarily.

Controls & optimisation visit — from £220

Includes 2 hours on site. £80/hr thereafter.

A focused review of your settings, schedules, weather compensation and overall system performance. If your bills seem too high, the house isn't heating evenly, or you've never had the controls properly explained, this is the right starting point.

Half-day system review — from £350

For systems with ongoing comfort, efficiency or setup issues that need a more detailed assessment. Covers a thorough review of the heat pump, controls, emitters, flow temperatures and pipework.

Full-day remedial / optimisation work — quoted individually

For more involved system improvements including balancing, controls work, pipework changes or remedial work following a diagnostic or system review.

System upgrades & installation work — quoted individually

Following a review of the property, system and scope of work.

Additional parts & materials

Any parts, components, inhibitor or other materials required during or following a visit are not included in the above prices. These will always be identified, quoted and agreed with you before any additional work or ordering takes place. There are no surprises.

Not sure which service you need? Describe what's happening and I'll recommend the most suitable option.

System upgrades and remedial work

Some heat pump problems are caused by the wider heating system rather than the heat pump unit. Pipework, emitters, pumps, buffers, valves, controls and hydraulic layout can all affect performance.

I can advise on practical upgrades or remedial work where the existing system is holding the heat pump back.

Useful if:

  • The original installation was poorly designed

  • Radiators are too small for low temperature heating

  • Flow rates are poor

  • The system has unnecessary complexity

  • The property has mixed heating circuits, multiple zones

  • You need changes to improve comfort or efficiency

Larger work is quoted individually after reviewing your property and system.
